Ah, the post-victory escape, where one guy steals a win then flees immediately to avoid reprisal from his enraged (and usually much bigger) opponent. Aside from my enjoyment of the post-victory escape, this page’s purpose was mostly to reveal, within the comic, Dick’s ring name. Which was spoiled pretty much right off the start to anybody who reads these posts (or who checked out the roster pages). Dick the Bastad’s ring name was going to be a big reveal (foreshadowed by the “sneaky bastard” line from a few pages ago), but I ended up not bothering with it, since there wasn’t all that much payoff to it, and it meant pointlessly delaying his roster page. The viking helmet from the header banner, on the other hand, has a bit more of a payoff to it, even though you’ve been seeing it since the first page went up.

This page marks the end of HEAT’s first chapter. I finished Chapter 2 (pages 16-29) the other day. Chapters 3 and 4 are already written. I’m currently in the process of re-writing Chapter 5, which features the comic’s first major tag team match and was entirely too long.
