I like to challenge myself with perspective, partly because I know it needs improving. The first panel on this page was definitely a challenge, but I like how it turned out. The perspective still needs work, but I’ve gotten a lot better at it. I also got to draw Dick in his wrestling gear, which is always fun. When I was doing the pre-production design work for the comic, all of Dick’s designs were for his wrestling gear. Didn’t realize how often I’d be drawing him in normal clothes. I’m drawing Chapter 3 right now, and I think I’m on the 6th or 7th page in a row where he’s rocking his workout outfit.

Dick’s reaction to the viking helmet seems like the kind of thing that must have been common among wrestlers joining the WWF in the early ’90s. I imagine Ron Simmons would have felt like that when Vince McMahon showed him the blue… thing that he wanted him to wear. Or when they showed PJ Walker the jockstrap they wanted him to put on his head. Actually, by those standards, a viking helmet is pretty awesome.

Saturday’s update will probably be brought to you by ComicPress’ automatic update system, because I’ll be doing the 12 Hour Comic Challenge at Happy Harbor Comics all day. It’s kind of like the internationally recognized 24 Hour Comic Challenge, but shorter and for charity.

On Saturday: Doc drops some knowledge on his protege.
