Mr. Dragon Gets Some Action, a 12 Hour Comic by Jeff Martin
Mr. Dragon Gets Some Action can be blamed on Happy Harbor Comics’ 12 Hour Comic Challenge. Each participant drew a random theme, character, and event which had to be incorporated into their story and was then tasked with drawing a 12 page comic in 12 hours. Naturally, junk like “detail” and “backgrounds” and “making sense” go out the window pretty quickly.
Character: Wonder Woman
Event: Volcanic Eruption
Theme: Steampunk
While that combination led to some pretty obvious story ideas (steampunk Wonder Woman battles volcanic eruption, anyone?), I decided to go a different direction. My initial story idea was to do a baser version of the typical knight/dragon scenario, which quickly escalated because I was sitting next to the depraved mind behind Micro & Macro, my friend Roger. It has been described as “utterly vile,” which, believe it or not, was meant positively.
First off sorry… perhaps it was fate that I happened to re-read my old comic that used that line… however, I think you did it much more justice.
