So I started my first practicum as a teacher last week, and it kind of kicked my ass, leading to me completely forgetting to post this on Saturday, as I was marking tests after I got home from work (because the practicum doesn’t pay, which is fucking stupid, but that’s a whole other thing). So anyway, I forgot but here’s the comic now.
This isn’t the first time we’ve seen the Super Max Challenge Cup, so I’ve probably already talked about it being the Stanley Cup with some Japanese wrestling trophy influences, but this strip gives me an opportunity to mention that it’s presentation is also heavily influenced by the Stanley Cup. For those of you who don’t watch hockey, the Stanley Cup is brought out on a red carpet by these two handlers dressed to the nines and wearing latex gloves so they don’t soil the immaculately polished cup. In this case they’re in full police dress uniforms. And one of them is a mantis-thing. That was mostly just for my amusement.
